Countdown

308 days since Race 4 (1/2 Marathon).

Cards on the table

Team England now have a time logged for each of the PB categories, and it is now up to the Aussies to respond. A new PB at 2Km was the latest time to be logged, surpassing the time set in the 2Km race held at the end of May. With Team England away (in England) for the next 10 days, and access to the necessary equipment problematic the Aussies have a great chance to catch up.

Aussies own short distances

In a near death experience, literally, the Aussies have confirmed themselves as the short course favourites. In the teams first serious attempt at a 500m PB, the Aussies strolled past the 1:33 warmup pace set by the England Team to cruise to a comfortable 1:29.0 PB. With a 1000m PB attempt set for later in the week ... it could all come down to who is game enough to put their bodies through another 2000m event!

Oop, that's the ambulance at the front door ... gotta go.

21 Again!

Probably the next excuse to be offered up by the Aussies will be the age difference between the two main protagonists. With Team England fielding a younger competitor it certainly seems that the tired old legs of the Australian is struggling to keep pace. However, as the Team England management have pointed out, the difference of 6 days between the two competitors would mean the Aussies have had nearly a whole week extra to train!

The answer is no!

After a week of Australian mischief on the chuzwoza blog, Team England have hit back in the only way that counts; by taking the overall lead in the competition by reaching the 200Km milestone some 45Km ahead of the beleaguered Aussies.

Aussies first to 200km Milestone?

With just 11km remaining for the England team, and the Aussies trailing by 50km, they must have thought the 200km milestone was in the bag. If anything, the team should have learnt from the 100km milestone that the Aussies own the milestones and nothing the England team can do will ever prevent that. Ha!

50000 @ 2:00 pace

After copious amounts of verbal diarrhea coming from the England Camp, the Aussies have hit back with an awesome 50,000 ... not only that, but at 2:00 pace! Obviously a break from training was just the ticket that inspired the evening on the rower.

In some ways it seems such a shame, what now for the marathon? A mere 42,000m seems trivial in comparison! Now the lead that England had so painstakingly constructed has been cut, the Aussie team will resort back to the 6000m training regime ... that is after a suitable recovery period.

Aussies call it quits

The Aussie Team have called it quits on their break from illness and will be back on the rower this evening.

The Team has laughed off any suggestion of quiting. The only headline regarding 'Aussies All Over' will be 'Aussies All Over the Floor with Laughter At English Suggestion of Quiting'. With the scores tied at 5 points and a mere 40km lead in the rowing km title, the English are wishful thinkers!

Is it all over?

With Team England nearly 40Km ahead in the rowing totals, and setting PB after PB at all race distances, the Aussies have responded with...... nothing... Is it all over so quickly? Team England are taking a three day break from training, in order to give the Aussies a chance to catch up, but can the Aussies respond, even with such a daunting task ahead. Time will tell..

Aussie Spirit Crushed

I'm sure that's the headline the English team would like to read over their milk and biscuits tomorrow morning. Not likely! The Aussie Team still has it's ace card up the sleeve ... a card that will be revealed in due time! Be afraid ... very afraid!

Knee Injury brings Team England to a halt

This is the headline the Aussie team would like to read over their cornflakes tomorrow morning. If it were true, it would give them a glimmer of hope at winning Chuzwoza '09. Instead, tomorrows headline should read "Team England complete 1/2 marathon in 85:59.3" but the editors have decided to hold this headline back in fear that it would crush any remaining spirit left in the Aussie team.
