Team England a bunch of sore losers

With the new 100km points scheme just days old, the England team are squirming more than a bucket of worms over the clear loss to the Australians in the first 100km milestone. The competition organisers were clear in the wording of this points scheme: '5 points shall be awarded to the first person to reach each milestone'. Little more needs to be said, timezones, equal points, pah !!!

Team England contest Aussie claims

A contraversial day for Chuzwoza '09. Whilst the Aussies claim that they reached the 100Km milestone first, Team England are contesting this claim. Although the Aussies logged the last of 3 rows at 12:02, Team England where completing their single 10K session at around the same time.

It is felt that Team England are at a disadvantage in the Milestone events due to Timezone differences. The English management are looking for a ruling from the competition committee to see if one of the following rules should be applied to make things even:

Aussies first to 100,000 metres

While the English team holiday in Italy, the Aussies have pulled off the coup of the competition so far. The team captain has rowed a half marathon in just over 1 hour and 35 minutes to claim first points in chuzwoza.

Team England set to take first points of Chuzwoza '09

Contrary to the bold claims made by the Aussies, it looks like Team England are set to take the first points from this years competition. They have closed to within 10Km of the 100Km bonus row. With a 10Km row planned for tomorrow afternoon Team England are confident in chalking up first points and taking a well deserved lead in the competition.

In other news Team England look to be rediscovering their old form from 2007 with a sub 2:00/500m 6Km row. Meanwhile the Aussies appear to be getting their equipment mixed up

Aussies take first points from Chuzwoza '09

Just hours after discussing the new 100km reward points scheme ... the Aussies, who at the time only had 75km on the board, and who were focusing on these type of events, have decided to switch focus. It is now expected that Sunday afternoon, at the conclusion of the 2k event, this headline will come to pass.

To back this up, the Aussies have rowed two laps around the lounge and set a cracking pace for the 2k event. With this new found speed and direction, the Australian team are assured of first event points come Sunday!

Direction key to Aussie success

Thanks to a tip from the England team, the Aussies have identified the cause for their slow times. Sparked as a result from the direction inquiry by the English team, an independent expert has confirmed the Aussies were not using the equipment correctly. In what can only be explained as a major installation stuff-up, only half the rower was being used. The rear section, which contains the seat and seat slide were found still packed up in the store room. This explains several factors which had baffled the Australians to this point:

  • the poor results

Which direction was he facing?

Was the question asked by the Team England manager this morning when viewing the latest 10K effort by the Aussies. Suspicion is growing in the English camp that the Aussies are playing mind games by publishing extremely slow times, trying to lull their opponents into a false sense of security. However, the times are so slow, that the ploy is obvious and therefore Team England have stepped up their efforts. After a respectable 10K yesterday, the team started their preparations for weekends 2km race.

7:23 ... the challenge is set!

On the back of a 7:32 set by the England team yesterday, the Aussies have come back fighting! At 7:23pm this evening, the Aussie team decided it wasn't going to stand for this and would endeavor to improve their time before the big race on Sunday. Whilst this evening's session may not have yield that result, the team is confident that they will be competitive come race day.
