England Team take break from training

No metres logged since last Wednesday, seems that the English team is having a break. Word on the street is that the team captain, Mr A Jellyman Nubster, is suffering physical, mental and spiritual exhaustion from the first week of training.

Fear has gripped the nation as all hope for Chuawoza '09 appears lost. This is the same fear that grips the nation every time an international sporting event is conducted. With such a poor track record, you'd think they'd be used to it by now!

Aussies could win...

... an event if the Chuzwoza competition committee decide to include the controversial "Closest to death after training" event. Current and past evidence has shown that the aussies will stop at nothing to gain victory over their old rivals from the northern hemisphere. Whilst Team England continue to build a solid base for the coming months ahead, it looks like Team Australia are attempting to win the competition in the first week

Waits training

Mixing it up in the Aussie camp with some waits training.

While the English focus on weights training, south of the equator we're trying a new 'waits' training scheme. The basic technique is to go hell for leather, then waits for the heart rate to come down below 200 bpm and repeat!

This evening's session includes sprints of 1000m, 500m, 2000m, 1000m and 1000m. Best pace, was 1:37 for the 500m. Total distance covered since commencement is 26,110m.

Who ate all the pies?

A leaked memo from the England camp reveals handicapping plea to the Australians.

Given the considerable difference in pack weight between the English and Australian teams, the English are desperate to have handicapping introduced to the competition.

Suggestions revolve around changes to the Aussie diet in an attempt to 'even things up':

  • compulsory up sizing of all Aussie meals
  • sweets with every meal, including breakfast
  • full cream milk instead of lite
  • an extra pie
  • iced coffee instead of regular coffee

The metres accumulate

A brief 1/2 session added another 7,100 metres to the Aussie total. This is going to be all too easy! Andy ... pity the fool.

Aussies take an early lead

Whilst the English team dream about what might have been with Chuz 07, the Aussies have started chalking up the metres with an impressive 13,546 metre initial row. Great start!
